- Dark nails
This could mean different things. It could be genetically inherited, harmless pigment change, such as the freckles. But if the dark line is along the whole nail and if the color changes, it could mean something more serious, like for example melanoma. It could also be nail fungus. - Bluish nails
If the meat under the nails is bluish, that means that your fingers are not getting enough oxygen through blood. This could signify that your circulation is bad in arms and legs, and that your lungs are not supplying enough oxygen in your blood. If you have this problem, which could mean that you have some lungs or heart problem.
- White nails
This could point on more bad stuffs, but the most serious one could be liver disease. That’s why, if you have this problem, contact your doctor.
- Brittle nails
Thin nails that are exfoliating can be connected with lack of iron (anemia).
If your nails are hard, but are easy to break, this could be a sign of dehydration, but also slowed down work of the thyroid gland, especially if your hair is dry and it is thinning.
- Vertical lines
These lines are usually showing with aging and it is normal. Allegedly, the root of the nails is getting dry with ages and that’s the cause of the lines.
- Horizontal lines
Deep horizontal lines that are spreading through the center of the healthy nail could point on stress.
